Manchester United was handed a hefty blow after drawing with the European and world champions, Chelsea. Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal cancelled Marcos Alonso’s goal in a span of less than a minute.

Manchester United interim coach Ralf Ranginick registered an appreciation, the manager stated that he was impressed by the team’s performance, especially during the second half.

“I think in the second half we showed a good reaction, a good reaction from the team. Even more so when we conceded the goal after 60 minutes. It was good to have an early reply to that goal two minutes later – a great assist by Nemanja Matic and a fantastic finish by Cristiano. In the first half, we had problems closing down the spaces, we needed a few great saves from David and a few last-second tackles. In the second half, to start with, we pushed back Anthony Elanga almost like a left wing-back and in the last 15 minutes played with a back five with three central defenders. That gave us more control of the game” stated Ragnick.

On the other hand, Chelsea will be contented with position three with an opener of 6 points ahead of Arsenal on the 4th position.

Manchester United are trailing at a far 6th position behind their close competitors Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs having played two more games. They have 3 games to play against Bretford, Brighton and Crystal Palace and the best they can achieve is 64 points. Manchester United will have to play either Europa League or Conference League under their new manager Erik Ten Hag
