Aston Villa is now closing on Phillipe Coutinho’s permanent deal from Barcelona at a fee of 20 million euros. The player has confirmed that he is happy working under coach Steven Gerald. He has scored four goals after 15 appearances since the January transfer window.
Coutinho moved from Liverpool at a fee of 120 million euros and 40 million ad on in the year 2018 after the departure of Neymar, who joined Paris Saint-Germain. However, Coutinho failed to click on the Catalonian side and loaned him to Bayern Munich. He scored two goals as Bayern Munich humiliated Barcelona 8-2 and went on to lift the champions league trophy in 2020.
He returned to Barcelona, but nothing changed; he was not a regular starter under Koeman and Xavi. After Steven Gerald was appointed the Aston Villa coach, he decided to bring his Liverpool ex-teammate to the Villa Park. After having an exemplary performance, he has decided to stay at Aston Villa, probably linking up with a former teammate Luis Suarez next summer.
