Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have won the FA Cup for the first time since 2005 after beating Chelsea on penalties [6-5]. Tsmiskas secured the victory for the Reds after Allison Becker saved mason mount’s penalty. Chelsea had earlier missed a penalty through the captain Cesar Azpilicueta and goalkeeper Mendy revived their hopes after saving Sadio mane’s kick.
Liverpool has now won the carabao cup and FA cup and they are aiming for a treble as they travel to Paris to face 13 times champions of Real Madrid. However, Liverpool suffered a first-half setback after Mohammed Salah was forced out due to injury and was replaced by Diogo Jota. Both teams had numerous scoring opportunities that were not converted.
Liverpool will now play Southampton on Tuesday as they wind up the Premier League against Wolves. They trail by three points to defending champions Manchester City who have a better goal difference. Klopp has said that Chelsea deserved to win on both accounts and they were unlucky to lose on the penalties after an excellent display.
