The year 2023 will be unique since the school calendar will return to normalcy after three years. It was interrupted on March 13th, 2020, when former president Uhuru Kenyatta ordered the closure of all schools due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
There has been a systematic resumption of studies where the learners have been forced to undergo short holidays to compensate for the time lost.
The ministry of education has indicated that there has been a revision of the calendar and the learners will open on January 23rd and the first term will last for 13 weeks. There will be a total resumption of co-curricular activities: sports, drama and music festivals, science congress and symposiums.
Here is the calendar
This calendar is effective for all the private and public schools for those lower and upper primary, secondary and colleges. Most universities have resumed their regular academic calendar that begins in September for the first semester.
