Chelsea faced another loss at the hands of Manchester City at Etihad Stadium after a second-half brilliant free kick scored by Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez tapped in and registered his name on the score sheet once again to make it 2-0 for the home team.

Chelsea’s failed to convert good chances they had as youngster Lewis Hall twice had an impressive start as he was denied goal opportunities by City’s goalkeeper Stefan Ortega who made brilliant saves. Kevin Phillips came in the 60th minute as he ensured the City’s midfield was solid, enabling the team to control the second half . Phillips had been out since undergoing shoulder surgery in September and the game was his last opportunity to prove his fitness before England boss Gareth Southgate named his World Cup squad on Thursday.

Manchester City key stars  Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne, were on the City as the City controlled the game and caused an attacking threat to the blues’ defense. Jack Grealish dominated the wing as he constantly gave the Chelsea defenders headache.

Christian Pulisic had missed an open chance in the first half that could have given the visitors the lead. Chelsea manager Graham potter is frustrated since his team has lacked sharpness in front of the opponent’s goal for the past five games.
