The teacher Service Commission of Kenya has slightly adjusted to the advertisement made earlier on teacher recuirnment exercises aimed at absorbing teachers for Junior secondary school for the Competency based-curriclum (CBC) curriculum.
The commission advertised 35,550 vacancies countrywide for primary and secondary school programs.
The earlier statement stated that 10,000 teachers were to be employed for permanent and pensionable terms while 25,550 were to work under an internship and teacher trainee program.
In the latest update, 9000 posts on permanent and Penshionable Terms of Service for secondary school teachers will have to be posted to Junior secondary schools.
One thousand posts on permanent and pensionable terms of service will go to primary school teachers.
Twenty-one thousand five hundred fifty posts for intern teachers will go to Junior secondary school.
Four thousand posts will go to intern teachers for primary school.
According to a statement released by the State House on October 13, the first phase of hiring more than 116,000 teachers to close the teacher shortage would begin in January with at least 30,000 new teachers hired.
