The Chief Administrative Secretaries nominees are out, as announced by President William Ruto. Apparently, netizens are disappointed with 50 CAS nominees; the controversial government position has not been taken lightly by Kenyans who feel the economy is doing badly and the government should not have been prioritising the addition of governmental positions.
(President William Ruto)
President Uhuru Kenyatta established the Office of the Chief Administrative Secretary under Article 132(4) (a) of the Constitution as read with Section 30 of the Public Service Commission Act, 2017. Later the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) challenged the decision; the court dismissed it. The office has been the tool for rewarding poll losers and political loyalists.
Here are the benefits CASs will enjoy fully funded by taxpayers’ money.
- Monthly salary: Ksh 765, 188
- Medical cover: Ksh 3,000,000
- Car grant: Upto Ksh 10,000,000
- Mortgage: Ksh 35,000,000
Besides that, they will also be entitled to other benefits like a security bodyguard, two secretaries, a personal assistant and a driver.
