A faction of Jubilee party leaders led by Kanini Kega has announced that they have removed former president Uhuru Kenyatta from Jubilee party leadership. Sabina Chege will replace him as the party leader.

Kanini Kega stated that according to the party’s constitution, Uhuru Kenyatta ceased to be the party leader on the 2nd of March 2023 since the former president is not constitutionally allowed to hold any position six months after retirement.

By operation of section 6(1) of the Presidential Retirement Benefits Act, the former party leader [Uhuru Kenyatta]  ceased to hold office as Jubilee Party leader in March 2023. The party leader’s office is now declared vacant, and Sabina Chege will be the acting Party Leader of Jubilee,” Said kanini kega.

On the 28th of April, 2023, Uhuru Kenyatta stormed the Jubilee offices. He asked the members to support Jeremiah Kioni and advised the likes of Kanini Kega to resign after it was evident that they had befriended William Ruto’s government.

”Weuh, Politics has no permanent friends/enemies. Who would have thought that Sabina Chege would one day go against the former president/friend?”
