Cabinet Secretary for Youths Affairs, Sports and Art Ababu Namwamba has taken to his social media pages to boast about the government’s achievements in developing sports infrastructure in the country.
According to the CS, Moi Stadium Embu, hosting the 60th Madaraka Day celebration, took 15 weeks to finalize at the cost of Ksh 476 million. However, a section of Kenyans are not convinced by his claims and input of the government in establishing sports infrastructures in the country; they termed most projects in Kenya, especially projects developed in Kenya, are substandard and can not meet FIFA standards, they can only hold political events and even the goal of hosting CAF stills remains a pipe dream.
“In a swift 15 weeks we have rebuilt Moi Stadium Embu, which I received from the contractor in time to host the 2023 Madaraka Day celebrations today. The speed, efficiency and value for money of this KES 476 million project is the yardstick to judge our administration #TalantaHela“ Namwamba stated.

Here are some of the reactions from netizens.
Newcastle built a new modern training complex with several playing grounds for less than £3m which is almost the same cost we used to renovate Embu stadium.
The 2 facilities are worlds apart regardless of having the same construction cost🤦🏿♂️.https://t.co/tVShaOuukg— Outgoing Introvert (@githinji_danw) June 1, 2023
