Famous Jamaican dancehall artist Adidja Azim Palmer, widely known as Vybz Kartel, reportedly faces a serious health crisis while serving a jail sentence.

According to the reports, the singer is battling a life-threatening autoimmune disease known as Graves’ Disease, which can cause hyperthyroidism or overactive thyroid.

Palmer’s lawyer attributed the worsening of the singer’s condition to putting him in solitary after the offense of being involved with a cell phone and if no action  taken he can die.

“Palmer’s illness is actually life-threatening. To make matters worse, his attorney notes that for the last week, Kartel has been in solitary lockdown 23 hours a day over an alleged cell phone infraction. He’s in a cell, and if you can picture a brick oven because that’s how those cells are built, the ventilation is next to none.”

The lawyer further describes the health condition as being wanting.

“His neck was swollen to the point where you couldn’t even close the shirt collar with an 18.5-inch neck. That’s the severity of his condition right now. His face is also visibly swollen. Also, he normally wears glasses, but in his current condition, his eyes are protruding.” The lawyer told Fox News.

Vybz Kartel was sentenced in 2014 after being found guilty of murdering Clive “Lizard” Williams.
