Royal Media Service owner SK Macharia’s Statehouse visit journey has elicited mixed reactions among a section of netizens. At the same time, some were amused by the step taken by a long-term friend of opposition leader Raila Odinga. SK Macharia was one of the notable financiers of the Azimio- One Kenya alliance under the Mount Kenya Foundation, consisting of prominent business persons from the Central Region of Kenya.

A section of social media users raised the question of whether Mr Macharia had switched loyalty to the government of the day. While another section of netizens seemed to defend him, claiming that political scenes have dynamic and personal interests must be safeguarded, which included protecting of the business empire by aligning with the government of the day.
Here are some of the reactions from netizens.
Those attacking SK Macharia should be told in no uncertain terms that the man has a right to associate with whoever he wants. Were it Raila Odinga meeting the president for a handshake, we will be here shouting how this is good for the country yet we know Raila does for a cheque.
With SK Macharia at State House, it is indicative that nearly all local financiers of Azimio have deserted Raila. Others include Atwoli, Peter Kenneth, and Gideon Moi. Uhuru is half-heartedly inclined to Azimio politics.
Let’s stop attacking Royal Media Services Chairman Sk Macharia. Mzee has gone through a lot of suffering in supporting Raila. He has been in opposition for a long time. Maybe he went to State House to ask President William Ruto to talk to Moses Kuria so that he stops attacking the media. Maybe he went to gather news that will later be aired on Citizen TV. Who knows, maybe SK Macharia went to ask President William Ruto when he is going to pay all the money that the government owes the media?
David Ndii, Royal Media Services chairman SK Macharia, Francis Atwoli and many others invested in Azimio but because elections are dynamic in nature, some left for GoK, some shifted allegiance from Raila Odinga. Honestly, there is need for a stable political environment.
