Arsenal’s 65 million Euros summer signing Kai Havertz has been in bad books with a section of Arsenal fans and his critics after his performance raised questions. Kai was signed from London rivals Chelsea after a 3-year spell that was marred with heavy criticism despite playing for more than three coaches who had him play in their first 11.
Havertz scored a memorable goal during the Champions League final in 2021 to help Chelsea clinch their second Champions League trophy as they trashed Manchester City. Kai flourished in the false 9 roles under Thomas Tuchel after being signed as a central attacking midfielder from Bayern Leverkusen. The following season, he still played as a false 9 after a bad spell with Romeo Lukaku who had moved to West London to solve Chelsea’s attacking problem.
Rumours on Bayern Munich and Real Madrid hit the headlines during the 2023 summer as the star was silent over his Chelsea exit after being criticized by fans. Arsenal made a better bid of 65 million, which saw the German star join the gunners as Arterta was poised to resuscitate his performance. He was played as a CAM.
Despite netting goals during the pre-season, Kai was slandered due to his vision on the ball, not forgetting his finishing. He was unlucky to have not scored in his first three games. The fans were on his neck.
